Dog-Friendly Restaurants, Bars and Breweries in Fort Lauderdale (2026)
Fort Lauderdale is an easy city to eat out with a dog, as long as you know the rule: Florida law only allows dogs in designated outdoor dining areas, so every place on this list is a patio, a beer garden or an open-air bar, and your dog stays leashed and off the furniture. We see a lot of dogs on our patio on trivia night, so we put together the list we give people who ask where else to go. It covers fourteen restaurants, bars and breweries from Progresso Village to the beach, then the two places to let the dog off the leash: Canine Beach and Bark Park at Snyder Park. Policies change, so a quick call before a special trip is never wasted.
The rule in Florida, in one paragraph
Florida Statute 509.233 lets a city or county opt in to allowing dogs at restaurants, and a restaurant then applies for a local permit that covers its outdoor seating only. The permit comes with conditions: dogs on a leash at all times, no dogs on chairs or tables, staff must wash their hands after touching a dog, and the dog cannot walk through the indoor dining room to get to the patio. In practice that means "dog-friendly" in Fort Lauderdale always means outside, and a restaurant with no patio cannot say yes even if it wants to. Service animals are a separate matter under federal law and are allowed anywhere the public goes.
Uncommon Path Brewing — Progresso Village
Our taproom at 710 NW 5th Ave, Suite 1071, in the Thrive Art District has indoor and open-air seating, and leashed dogs are welcome in the open-air area. We brew the beer on site and cook wood-fired pizza in-house, so you can make a full dinner of it instead of hoping for a food truck. Ask for a water bowl. There is free parking in the Thrive Art District, and dogs are regulars at Tuesday trivia and Friday live music. Open daily from noon.
Orchestrated Minds Brewing — Dorsey-Riverbend
Orchestrated Minds, at 803 NW 1st St about a mile from us, says on its own site that it is always dog friendly, and regulars report dogs inside the taproom with water bowls and toys, which makes it the most relaxed dog policy on this list. It is a nano brewery known for IPAs, sours and stouts. Closed Mondays; open afternoons Tuesday through Friday and from noon on weekends.
Invasive Species Brewing — Flagler Village
Invasive Species, at 726 NE 2nd Ave in Flagler Village, has a covered back patio where dogs are welcome and a rotating food truck out front. The taproom pours 24 taps plus house-distilled spirits, and the taxidermy decor is a conversation starter. It opens in the evening on weekdays and early afternoon on weekends.
Tarpon River Brewing — south of downtown
Tarpon River Brewing, at 280 SW 6th St in a converted 1929 horse barn, has a full kitchen (wings, burgers, a mahi sandwich) and 16 or more house beers, and dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables. Regulars report water bowls and the occasional treat. It is the downtown brewery to pick if you want a real meal with the dog.
LauderAle Brewery — near the port and airport
LauderAle, at 3305 SE 14th Ave in the marine-industrial district between Port Everglades and the airport, states plainly that leashed dogs are welcome in its covered outdoor beer garden, with water provided, and not indoors. A different food truck parks there each day. It is the closest dog-friendly brewery to a cruise ship or a flight.
Funky Buddha Brewery — Oakland Park
Funky Buddha, at 1201 NE 38th St in Oakland Park, welcomes well-behaved dogs in its outside patio areas, which its FAQ describes as the space by the tracks, near the front planters and under the clock tower. It is the biggest brewery in the area, with a scratch kitchen and a large patio, and it is open daily from late morning.
Patio Bar & Pizza — MASS District
Patio Bar & Pizza, at 901 Progresso Dr, is a half mile from our taproom and built around its dog-friendly patio: a fire pit, big screens, a full bar and a sourdough-crust brick-oven pizza. It opens in the evening on weekdays, earlier on weekends, and runs late, so it is the dog-friendly spot for after an art walk.
Luigi's Coal Oven Pizza — Las Olas
Luigi's, at 1415 E Las Olas Blvd, is the dog-friendly answer on Las Olas Boulevard: a heated patio that welcomes dogs, a coal-oven Margherita, a wine bar, and a free parking lot behind the building. Open daily for lunch and dinner.
The Wharf Fort Lauderdale — Riverwalk
The Wharf, at 20 W Las Olas Blvd on the New River, is an open-air bar and food-vendor yard, and its FAQ says leashed dogs are welcome before sundown. After dark it turns into a 21-and-up bar and the dogs go home. It is open Thursday through Sunday, from the afternoon on weekdays and from noon on weekends.
Coconuts — Harbor Beach
Coconuts, at 429 Seabreeze Blvd near the beach and the 17th Street Causeway, is a waterfront seafood restaurant with a dock, and its site says it allows leashed pets on the patio only. Open daily for lunch and dinner with brunch on Sunday morning. It is the best waterfront dinner on this list for a dog that can settle.
Shooters Waterfront — Intracoastal
Shooters, at 3033 NE 32nd Ave on the Intracoastal north of Oakland Park Boulevard, has outdoor waterfront seating, a special dog menu, and calls itself a voted best pet-friendly restaurant on its own site. Arrive by car or by boat. Lunch and dinner daily, brunch on weekends.
Boatyard — SE 17th Street
Boatyard, at 1555 SE 17th St, is a dockside seafood restaurant near the port with a patio where dogs are welcome, and regulars report a dog menu. It opens for lunch on weekdays and brunch on weekends and runs into the night.
Shuck N Dive Cajun Cafe — N Federal Hwy
Shuck N Dive, at 650 N Federal Hwy, is a New Orleans-style cafe with a patio of picnic tables where dogs are welcome; regulars report the staff bring water and will do a plain chicken or fish for the dog. Closed Mondays.
Tap 42 and The Riverside Market
Two more with outdoor tables where dogs are welcome: Tap 42 Craft Kitchen & Bar, at 1411 S Andrews Ave in the SoLo district, a gastropub with a big covered patio and a popular brunch; and The Riverside Market, at 608 SW 12th Ave, a neighborhood craft beer market with more than five hundred beers, sandwiches and pizza, and picnic tables outside. Both policies come from BringFido and reviewers rather than the restaurants' own sites, so confirm if it matters.
Canine Beach: the only beach in Fort Lauderdale that allows dogs
Dogs are not allowed on Fort Lauderdale Beach except at Canine Beach, a 100-yard stretch of sand on A1A just north of Sunrise Boulevard. It is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons only, with winter hours shorter than summer hours, and it requires a permit per dog with proof of vaccination: an annual permit for residents or non-residents, or a weekend pass. Annual permits are sold at the Parks and Recreation office at Holiday Park, 1150 G. Harold Martin Dr., on weekdays. Three dogs per handler, no puppies under four months, and a six-foot leash outside the designated area. Check the city's dog-friendly places page for current hours before you go.
Bark Park at Snyder Park
Bark Park, inside Snyder Park at 3299 SW 4th Ave near the airport, is the city's big off-leash park: a separate small-dog area, agility equipment, hose stations, pavilions, and a lake where dogs can swim during park hours. It is open daily from 7 AM to 7 PM and closes for maintenance for a few hours on some weekday mornings; dogs must be vaccinated and licensed. It is unstaffed, and there may be a small per-vehicle park entry fee, so bring cash.
A dog-friendly day in Fort Lauderdale
Morning at Bark Park while it is cool. Lunch at Coconuts or Boatyard by the water. If it is a weekend, Canine Beach in the late afternoon.
